Short documentary FILM - WARDBUKKARRA: the first song
Wardbukkarra: The First Song. How today’s Bininj Aboriginal people of central western Arnhem Land discovered music, told through their epic and ancient Dreamtime story of the struggle between good and evil. Wadbukkarra is a 13 minute documentary film Sutton Grange Films recently produced in association with Manmoyi Music and Skinnyfish Music for Screen Australia's Songlines On Screen initiative, commissioned for broadcast by SBS/NITV. We’re pleased to announce that the first transmission is slated for Sunday 3 July 2016 8.30pm on NITV.
Magic mobility - craig's story
While filming a series of web spots for Magic Mobility with Christine Weller Creative we were lucky enough to meet Craig Kilby, a proud user of Magic Mobility wheelchairs. Craig is a mad Hawthorn Football Club fan. Hawthorn were kind enough to allow us to film a Hawks training session at Waverly where Craig had his photo taken with Sam Mitchell and Cyril Rioli. A month later Cyril was best afield in the AFL Grand Final. This is a lovely spot that shows how disability doesn't define the person.
Short documentary FILM - WURRAY
Yolngu song men trace the epic dreamtime story of their great nomadic warrior, Wurray, across the wilderness of North East Arnhem Land at the very top-end of Australia. Wurray is a 12 minute documentary film Sutton Grange Films recently produced for Screen Australia's Songlines On Screen initiative, commissioned for broadcast on SBS/NITV. We’re pleased to announce that the first transmission is slated for Sunday 3 July 2016 8.45pm on NITV.

TWO EXCITING NEW PARTNERSHIPS ANNOUNCED

Sutton Grange Films has had two fascinating projects in development over the past couple of months for Screen Australia's Songlines On Screen initiative. The first project is titled Wurray and is to be directed by by Keith Lapulung Dhamarrandji and is a co-production between the Milingimbi Arts and Cultural Centre and Sutton Grange Films. The second project is titled "Na-yah-yungki" and is a co-production between Manmoyi Music and Sutton Grange Films with Terrah Guymala directing. Paul Williams will be producing "Wurray". Mark Grose from Skinnyfish Music and Manmoyi Music will be producing "Na-yah-yungki".
Today we're delighted to announce that both projects have received funding from Screen Australia. Wurray will go directly into production after an initial development period. Na-yah-yungki has development funding and production funding is contingent on the success of this. Songlines On Screen is a joint initiative between SBS, NITV and Screen Australia. A week long series of workshops are scheduled in Sydney for the last week of June 2014. Both of these exciting projects will be featured on this site in blog form so you can chart their development from concept to final film. As Keith kept on saying "Yo! Manymuk!" (fantastic).

The assemblage of sound and images illuminates the context of Gurrumul's lyrics. There is hospitality in this, a privilege to experience, which the standing ovation at the close of the evening acknowledges.
